Pre-Med Learning Community

What is a Learning Community?

A Learning Community is a group of (25-30) students who take two to four classes together during their first semester focusing on a specific theme.

What is the Pre-Med Learning Community?

The community involves linked courses in Biology and Chemistry that are required first semester courses for Biology, Biomedical Science, or Biochemistry majors and a course that introduces students to healthcare principles and practices. The linked healthcare course provides exposure to physicians and health care professionals from a variety of areas as well as practical information about the traditional and partnership pathways to medical school.

What classes will you take?

  • Principles of Biology (4 credits)
  • Principles of Biology Lab
  • Principles of Chemistry (3 credits)
  • Principles of Chemistry Lab (1 credit)
  • Health-Care Delivery Systems (1 credit)
  • Students will select at 1-2 general education course(s) of their choosing to round out their schedule
