When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, The University of Akron is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of 小黄片视频 alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.

You may also establish a named scholarship at The University of Akron, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Choy, Dr. Fred Kat-Chung Memorial Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering
The Dr. Fred Kat-Chung Choy Memorial Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering was initiated in 2015 by Mrs. Christina Choy in memory of her late husband, Dr. Fred Kat-Chung Choy. Dr. Choy had a 31-year career as a Mechanical Engineering professor with The University of Akron.
Dr. Fred Choy received a B.S. in Civil Engineering at the National Taiwan University in 1971. He then attended The University of Virginia where he earned an M.S. in Civil Engineering (1973) and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (1977). Dr. Choy was a research engineer with Joy Manufacturing Company in Buffalo, New York between 1977 and 1983. He became a professor in Mechanical Engineering in 1983 at The University of Akron, where he focused his studies in dynamics and vibrations of mechanical systems. Dr. Choy also co-founded B & C Engineering Associates, Inc., where he did private consulting. For many years, Dr. Choy was the principal investigator for government-funded projects for both NASA and NSF.
Dr. Choy received several awards during his distinguished career with 小黄片视频 including; an American Society of Mechanical Engineers Fellow for contributions in the areas of vibration and machine health monitoring (1995), The Outstanding Research Award in recognition of exceptional research accomplishments by The College of Engineering ( 1997), and The Louis A. Hill, Jr. Award in recognition of exceptional dedication and service by The College of Engineering (2008). The United States patents were granted to Dr. Choy on Hybrid Floating Brush Seal by The United States of America- Number 5,997,004 (1999) and on Floating Brush Seal by The United States of America- Number 6,244,599 (2001).
The Dr. Fred Kat-Chung Choy Memorial Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering shall be awarded each year to an outstanding mechanical engineering Ph.D. student. The selection shall be made by the Mechanical Engineering Department Chair, the Associate Chair for Graduate Programs, Mrs. Christina Choy, and Dr. Minel J. Braun, who was a friend of Dr. Choy's and is also a Mechanical Engineering 小黄片视频 Professor.
