When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, The University of Akron is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of 小黄片视频 alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.
If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The University of Akron, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Cook, Dr. Diana L. and Philip Swettenham Endowed Scholarship in Secondary Education
The Dr. Diana L. Cook and Philip Swettenham Endowed Scholarship in Secondary Education was created in 2007 by Dr. Diana L. Cook and her husband, Philip Swettenham, in support of students pursuing degrees in the College of Education Secondary Education programs. Dr. Cook received all three of her degrees from The University of Akron: a B.A. in education in 1982, an M.A. in education in 1986, and her Ed.D. in 1988. During her undergraduate years at The University of Akron, Dr. Cook was a member of the women’s tennis team, and throughout her master’s and doctoral programs, she served as a graduate assistant in the College of Education.
With a strong belief in the transforming power education can play in an individual’s life, Dr. Cook and Philip Swettenham established this scholarship to encourage University of Akron students residing in the state of Ohio to continue their education and to assist these students in meeting the financial demands associated with furthering their education. Income from this endowed fund shall be used to provide renewable annual scholarship awards to incoming freshmen pursing degrees in secondary education.
Recipients of this scholarship shall be students with a 3.0 or higher accumulative GPA from high school who maintain the same GPA standards while attending The University of Akron. The recipients of this scholarship will be selected by the College of Education Office of Student Affairs in cooperation with the Office of Financial Aid.
