When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, The University of Akron is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of 小黄片视频 alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.

You may also establish a named scholarship at The University of Akron, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

Njus, Dr. Glen O. Graduate Scholarship in Biomedical Engineering
The Dr. Glen O. Njus Graduate Scholarship in Biomedical Engineering honors the life and legacy of a loving husband and father and a dedicated researcher and teacher, Glen O. Njus, Ph.D. It was established in 2009 by his wife, Nina Njus, M.D.; his daughters and son-in-law, Emily and Mike Njus and Kelsey Njus; University of Akron colleagues; former students; and other close friends.
Glen O. Njus was professor of biomedical engineering at The University of Akron for 23 years, and his research included orthopaedic implants, soft and hard connective tissue biomechanics, instrumentation methods in biomechanics, and spine mechanics. A highly sought-after professor, Dr. Njus was revered by his students, who gained tremendous knowledge from him in the classroom and wisdom from working with him in the laboratory.
Dr. Njus hailed from Iowa. He earned his B.S. in engineering (’75), M.S. in mechanical engineering (’76), and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering (’85) from The University of Iowa. He joined The University of Akron in 1986, after serving as an assistant professor at the University of Iowa. There he met and married Nina, a pre-med student, now an orthopedic hand surgeon with the Summit Hand Center Inc., located in the Crystal Clinic in Akron, Ohio. Generous philanthropists, Drs. Glen and Nina Njus have supported the Musculo-Skeletal Lab and the Biomedical Engineering Department at The University of Akron. In recognition of their giving, past and present, they are members of the Founder's Club of the John R. Buchtel Society.
The purpose of The Dr. Glen O. Njus Graduate Scholarship in Biomedical Engineering is to provide financial assistance for tuition, books, fees, research, and participation at professional conferences for one biomedical engineering graduate student in the College of Engineering. The Njus Scholarship will be awarded based on merit and need and will be renewable for one additional year. It is expected that Njus Scholarship recipients have a strong work ethic and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of humankind. Awarding The Dr. Glen O. Njus Graduate Scholarship in Biomedical Engineering is the responsibility of the chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering in consultation with the dean of the College of Engineering and in conjunction with the Office of Student Financial Aid.
