When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, The University of Akron is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of 小黄片视频 alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.
If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The University of Akron, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

Students who want to apply for scholarships should visit the scholarship page on the Financial Aid site. You can find the link for the online application here.
The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Boyer, Virginia Sabo Endowed Honors Scholarship
Virginia Sabo Boyer ’43 is the daughter of Romanian immigrants. Her parents, John and Mary Sabo, stressed education as access to opportunity. The Virginia Sabo Boyer Endowed Honors Scholarship was established in 2007 (and revised in 2016) in memory of her beloved parents.
Virginia Sabo Boyer taught high school in Barberton, Hudson and Akron, spending most of her teaching career at Garfield High School. She retired after 35 years. Virginia was a dedicated and professional educator who believed quality education is the result of the extraordinary effort and commitment of teachers.
The Virginia Sabo Boyer Endowed Honors Scholarship supports students in the Williams Honors College who:
- Desire a career in teaching
- Are pursuing a bachelor’s degree
- Demonstrate outstanding personal characteristics, including a strong work ethic, a dedication to teaching, integrity, and a commitment to helping others use education to attain a better life
- Are residents of Northeast Ohio with demonstrated financial need
The scholarship will be awarded by the Williams Honors College and is renewable to recipients whose cumulative GPA and credit hours maintain their status within the Williams Honor College. Scholarship funds may be used to meet the full cost of tuition, books, and fees. Recipients will be selected by the Williams Honors College in collaboration with the Office of Student Financial Aid.
