About Constellations We Make
Constellations We Make is a new work for nine University of Akron dancers by choreographer Kora Radella. The title comes from a writing by Rebecca Solnit:
"The stars we are given. The constellations we make. That is to say, stars exist in the cosmos, but constellations are the imaginary lines we draw between them, the readings we give the sky, the stories we tell."
Though this dance does not tell a single story, it weaves the performers through a web of impactful interactions that are both challenging and nurturing. The dancers swing, slash, spin, and wrestle within the links that they make with one another during the piece. The Baroque music, Violin Sonata in D Minor, Op 5 No 12 "La Folia," by Arcangelo Corelli, underscores the emotional resonance of the motion and relationships in the dance.
In Rehearsal with Kara Stewart's Corelli Coterie
In motion, Corelli Coterie rehearsals led by choreographer Kara Stewart, explore the dynamic roots of ballet and pas de deux - as it juxtaposes ensemble and duet dance in artistic contrast and surprising unison.

Student Dancers
Dance senior falls in love with dance all over again
Performing in С»ÆƬÊÓƵDC is no easy task yet the work is worth it all. Just ask senior dance student, Aaron Knowles. To achieve excellence on stage, Aaron first had to re-discover in himself why he loves the work so much.
Jessica Doughtry's first experience dancing with a guest choreographer
"It enhances our learning by broadening our experiences and the types of people that we get to work with."
