Here's what happened at Code Hopper 2019

Holliday and students at CH Zippy coding w:students

The day opened in the lecture hall with a speaker and instructions for the day.  At the end of the introduction, participants were given the theme for the projects that they were to create.  Teams had about 3 hours to create a graphic, animation, or anything with code related to the theme and submit it to the reviewers.  Teams worked on their projects in and around the Akron Art Museum area.  Activity and topic-related tables were available throughout the museum for teams to visit during coding breaks.

Software that is used for Code Hopper includes, but is not limited to:

  • Scratch
  • JavaScript
  • PencilCode
  • HTML

Participants and coaches reconvened at the end of the day to hear feedback from the judges and reviewers. All teams received feedback on their projects.  Prizes were awarded in categories such as efficiency and aesthetic.
