Biography
Rick Strong is an Assistant Professor of Legal Writing and Research at The University of Akron School of Law. He earned his undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University, his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law where he was a member of Order of the Coif, and most recently completed a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the NEOMFA. Prior to joining Akron Law in 2009, Professor Strong was a trial attorney at Roetzel & Andress for 25 years where he served as practice manager for the medical defense group and represented several of the largest hospitals in Northeastern, Ohio. He has tried cases and handled appeals in state and federal courts including arguments before the Supreme Court of Ohio and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Recently, he served as an Adjunct Professor at Akron Law teaching Expert Evidence and Legal Writing. Professor Strong has given many presentations for the legal and medical communities such as the Ohio Judicial Conference Annual Meeting, Panel Member on Medical Cases, "Medical Claims and Physician Procedure: Charting Issues," at the Grand Rounds, Robinson Memorial Hospital, and "Defending Dental Implant Cases" in Chicago, Ill. Professor Strong is currently a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Akron Bar Association, the Legal Writing Institute, and the Portage Trail Group of the Sierra Club.
